How to Fix My Blink Doorbell If Not Ringing on Alexa?
As you know the most common reasons for this issue, you might be curious to know the quick solutions as well, so here are all the solutions to this issue:
You have an unstable Wi-Fi connection
An expired or unstable internet subscription or connectivity troubles may be the first cause if your Blink doorbell is not ringing on the Alexa.
So before moving towards any other solution, you have to fix the connectivity issues with your Blink doorbell.
Solution:
- Verify that your internet subscription plan hasn’t already ended!
- Restart your modem or router, and see whether the internet is working again!
- You could also limit Wi-Fi interference, which might result in a connection dropping!
The “do not disturb” mode is turned on
You must make sure that the “do not disturb” feature is turned off to be informed.
Solution:
To turn off the Do Not Disturb Mode, adhere to the following instructions:
- Open the Alexa app!
- Go to Disable Devices!
- Choose Echo and Alexa!
- Choose your device!
- Select the “do not disturb” option after this!
- On or off the do not disturb setting!
You have faulty batteries
Based on normal settings, the Blink doorbell’s two AA 1.5V lithium metal batteries can last up to two years. The gadget is battery-powered even if it is hardwired.
Your doorbell will stop operating and lose all functionality when these batteries run out, and it won’t ring on devices with Alexa support, mechanical chimes, or apps.
Solution:
- To avoid any potential problems, be sure to check the condition of your batteries on the Blink app!
- Also, update them when necessary!
The notifications are turned off
The “Doorbell Press” notifications may be turned off if you depend on the Blink app to be notified and realize that you are now not receiving these notifications.
Solution:
The doorbell notification function may be activated as follows:
- Log into your account on the Blink app by going there!
- At the app’s bottom, click the gear symbol!
- Click Notification Options after that!
- Activate the events for which you wish to get notifications!
- Then click the “<” in the upper left side of the screen to return!
- The options automatically save!
The temperature is unstable
The Blink doorbell has a specified temperature range of -20 °C to 40 °C. If the temperature is outside of this range, the batteries start struggling to hold a charge.
If they become too hot or too cold, they will completely stop functioning, which prevents the doorbell from ringing.
Solution:
To receive warnings when your device temperature exceeds the limit threshold, you may enable “Temperature Alerts,”. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Blink app!
- On the main page, click the icon that is positioned over the thumbnail image of your doorbell!
- Select “Temperature” from the Monitoring area by tapping there!
- To enable notifications, tap the “Enable Temperature Alert”!
- Just specify the temperature thresholds you want, and you’re done!
You need to reset the Blink doorbell
During my research I found out that performing a reset on your device can solve this issue however, you should be aware that doing so will wipe all of your personal information.
Solution:
Here’s how you can do it:
- The paper template in the doorbell box is linked to the metal picking opening key!
- From the faceplate, remove the doorbell!
- Check to see whether the batteries are in!
- Once the red light starts to flash on the doorbell’s front, push and hold the reset button!
You need to reset the Blink doorbell
If none of the above solutions solve your issue then there might be chances of some kind of technical or complicated issue with the Blink doorbell itself.
Solution:
- In this situation, it is advised to contact the customer service of the Blink app!
